A screw conveyor is a type of stationary mechanical conveying equipment. Screw conveyors are suitable for vertical or steeply inclined transportation of granular or powdery materials such as grains, oil seeds, and feed. Screw conveyors are widely used in various industrial sectors, such as building materials, power generation, chemical industry, metallurgy, coal, aluminum-magnesium, machinery, light industry, grain, and food industries. They are suitable for conveying powdery, granular, and small bulk materials, such as cement, coal powder, grain, fertilizers, ash, and sand, at temperatures below 200°C, with a horizontal or less than 20° inclination angle.
Screw conveyors are not suitable for transporting perishable, highly viscous, or easily agglomerated materials, as these materials tend to stick to the screw during transportation, rotating without advancing, or causing blockages at the hanging bearing, preventing the screw conveyor from functioning properly.
