Bismarck battleship was a German battleship renowned during World War II and the lead ship of the Bismarck class. The name is derived from the 19th-century German Iron Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck. One of the reasons for Bismarck's fame is its sinking of the British Royal Navy's pride, the battlecruiser HMS Hood, during the Battle of the Denmark Strait in May 1941. Following this, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill specifically ordered to "sink the Bismarck," and it was eventually sunk by the Royal Navy on May 27th.
